3 - Where does it hurt? – Your company's network architecture
In your company, it is not only the employees' laptop or smartphone that requires cryptography. Instead, there will be a portfolio of networked devices that take care of encrypting, transmitting, and decrypting data, for example in order to connect two company sites.
Besides their core function, they also need to be managed by your network administrator. The unfortunate reality is that these devices are typically managed via certificates, which rely on public key cryptography. This means that not only is the confidentiality of your data at risk, but the devices themselves may also be compromised by malicious parties.
The conclusion is that most of your devices use public key cryptography and therefore most of your devices are vulnerable to the (quantum) computing threat.
